Started in 2023, the Annual Seed Library is available for the entire community, beginning and skilled gardener alike. The seeds available include vegetable, fruit, and herb seeds (beans, tomatoes, and basil), as well as flowers and decorative plant seeds. The Annual Seed Library uses heirloom variety seeds, and most of the seeds are fairly easy to grow.
Seed packets are usually set out for patrons sometime in late January to mid-February and will remain available until all seeds are gone or planting season ends.
One goal of this program is to provide patrons with a valuable skill which can also help put food on the table.
From time to time, the library offers classes in partnership with the Bracken County Extension Office, such as “Container Gardening”, which is great for those with limited space.
